Titanic: The Unsinkable Ship

This week we are learning about the Titanic. The Titanic was the name of a popular food court in Brazil and served excellent teriaki chicken. Hee Hee Hee. Just kidding! The Titanic was a luxury cruise ship that unfortunately sunk because it hit an ice berg. More than 1,550 lives were lost and only 32% of the people on the ship survived. The ship is now in the ocean and can only be seen with a submarine. There was not enough life boats to hold every one and a lot of people died. Back then it was like a 9/11. I bet it sunk a lot of peoples attitudes.

Malaria and the Visigoths

Every one knows that Rome was one of the most powerful Empire in the ancient world and that it eventually fell... But! Do you you know how it fell? No, it wasn't hit a meteor or destroyed by a natural disaster but was attacked by barbarians, like Attila the Hun and the Visigoths. The Romans decided that Rome was too big to rule at one time so they split it in half, the East and the West. So the Huns attacked the East and the Visigoths attacked the West. Soon the Visigoths won the West and the leader made his 6 year old son the new emperor. He also game his son a new name, Romulus Augustus. Romulus for the first king of Rome and Augustus for the most popular emperor of Rome. The people of Rome felt embarrassed and called the boy "Momylius" which means Little Disgrace. The East part of Rome never was captured or destroyed, it just had some crazy leaders and was then known as the Byzantines. I never would have thought that Rome would just fall like that.

Did you know that malaria kills up to three million people a year? Today we read The Little House on the Prairie book and the family got sick with malaria. Malaria is caused by mosquitoes that spread the disease. One of the ways to avoid malaria is to sleep with a bug net over you but luckily it is not that common in the U.S only in Africa and South America. The U.S is trying to help people with Malaria. I'm just glad it isn't in the U.S.

Stuff on My Mind Right Now

A lot of stuff has happened to me and I want to put it all in one post so it won't take as long...

1. This week I finished The Work and the Glory: Pillar of Light By: Gerald Lund. It was a really good book that talks about Joseph Smith getting the Gold Plates and the Steed family and their own affairs. It talks about the McBride family and Oliver Cowdry, William Harris, and the Smith family. About how Joshua Steed moves out of the family and tries to steal the Gold Plates with the Murdock brothers. I learned a lot about the church and I can't wait to read the next one.

2. Last month I made a book club and invited a bunch of people, friends, family, neighbors and other homeschoolers. At the beginning we handed out papers that you're supposed to fill out your favorite books and any you recommend. Then we played outside for a while and waited for the others to come. When everyone was there told the our names and talked about what the name of the book club should be. I said we should name it "Lights, Camera, Jaxon!" My friend Wyatt said we should just call it "The Book Club book Worms" or "Jaxon's Book Club". But the my Dad said we should name it "The Papyrus Pirates of Words" and everyone agreed on that. We then discussed what books we should read, so we said the names of the books we liked and put them in a bowl and drew the books we would read. We decided on these books:

3. Next weekend is the Father's and son's Outing for my ward and we have to go on the day of my green belt graduation. We're going to go camping and fishing there. The plan is that if I pass testing I can just get it the next day. When I graduate I will get my purple belt.

Where the Red Fern Grows

Hey everyone! Sorry for not posting this past week, there have been a lot of school to catch up on. I have good news.... Kaden lost his first tooth!!!! and he also got his earplugs out!!! Now he can go swimming without having to wear his head strap. I also finished Where the Red Fern Grows by: Wilson Rawls. It was a really good book about a boy named Billy and his two coon hunting dogs, Old Dan and Little Ann. At the beginning Billy saves up his money to get the dogs then he walks to town to get them. Then when he gets home he trains them to be good hunting dogs. Once the dogs are trained nobody can beat them. Everyday when Billy kills more and more coons he gives them to his grandpa who sells them and gives Billy the money. Then one day the two bullies of the town come and bet five dollars that Billy can't catch the ghost coon. They say the ghost coon can climb a tree and disappear. So him and the bullies go into the forest and sure enough he catches the ghost coon but the bullies won't give him the money. The bully's dog attacks Old Dan and one of the bullies runs at him with an axe but he trips and kills himself. Billy then goes to a raccoon hunting competition. There, Little Ann wins a beauty competition and they win the cup and 500 dollars. The only thing is that his grandpa sprains his ankle. When they get back home the unthinkable happens, Old Dan is killed by a mountain lion. After they bury him Little Ann has no will to live so she dies too. Then on the graves a red fern grows.

Stuff that has Happened to Me This Week

A lot of stuff has happened this week, here is a list of them.

1: I went to the Dunes with my best friend Wyatt and we rode sand rails and quads. Kaden went too and he loved it. We watched the new Incredible Hulk in the Freeman's RV. Wyatt hooked up a sled to his quad and drove me around. Then we wrestled down a giant dune and got really sandy.

2: My aunt Keri, my cousins Sam and Rachel and their friend Missy came to our house for the weekend while we were at the Dunes. While we were gone they went and saw Hannah Montana with my Mom. Then they painted Easter Eggs and dyed their hair.

3. I finished the book, Old Yeller by Fred Gibson and it was one of the best books I've ever read. It was about a teenage boy in the 1860's and his dog Old Yeller. At first Travis thinks that the dog is a thieving rascal but then after the dog saves his little brother Arliss from a mama bear the dog and him become best friends. Old Yeller helps Travis while his dad is away selling stuff by, chasing the raccoons out of their corn field, marking hogs and hunting animals. Then one day a wolf with Hydrophobia bites Old Yeller and in order to make sure his family doesn't catch it he kills the dog. It was a really good book and I think that it's a great read.

4. I got 100% on a math test, finished the Jungle Book and wrote a narration/poem about it, and then my Mom bought 4 revolver Nerf guns 48 extra darts and 5 extra balls for our ball gun. She also bought us a giant play house that has 3 swings, a slide, monkey bars and a bench, a brand new soccer ball and basketball too.

5. Sunday was Easter and we got so much candy. Me and Kaden both got some water guns, gum, candy eggs, Jelly Beans, gummy worms, milky ways, snickers, sour peach rings, chocolate rabbits, pop rocks and bubbles from the Easter bunny. My Mom had to do a big talk at church and she did really awesome.

My weekend was awesome and I hope yours was too.

Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl

A few days ago I read the the book: The Diary of Anne Frank. It is about how the Jewish people were prosecuted by the Germans in WWII. It starts out on her birthday and everything is happy. At school she talks too much so her teacher makes her write a story called the incurable chatter box. Her dad Otto Frank receives word that the Germans are coming and also receives this list of things the Jews can no longer do.

1. Jews must wear a yellow six pointed star to distinguish themselves.

2. Jews must hand over their bicycles to the Germans.

3. Jews are banned from trains and forbidden to drive.

4. Jews are only allowed to do their shopping between 3 and 5 0'clock and can only go in the shops that have the placard "Jewish Shop".

5. Jews must be indoors before 8 o'clock and can't even sit in their own garden after that hour.

6. Jews are forbidden to visit theaters, cinemas, and any other place of entertainment.

7. Jews may not take part in public sports, swimming baths, tennis courts, hockey fields and other sports grounds are prohibited to them.

8. Jews may not visit Christians.

9. Jews must go to Jewish schools and many more like that.

The Franks go into hiding with the Van Daans into an abandoned warehouse. They find a secret room that is hidden behind a bookcase and call it the Secret Annexe. Anne's father prepared this living space for them for nearly a year and when he got a notice from the Germans saying Margot was to be sent to a labor camp, they decided it was time to hide. After six months a new person joins them, his name is Dr.Dussel. So he comes and he shares a room with Anne and hogs her desk. Mrs. Van Daan refuses to give up her expensive fur coat so they can have food. Everyone is really annoyed with her selfish behavior. Anne soon falls in love with the Peter Van Daan who is looks and not brains, this gives her somone to share her thoughts with but eventually she is over him. The company building that they hide in is visited by burglars twice and each time they get lower and lower on food. Every day a girl named Meip gives the Van Daans and the Franks fruit from the market place and a girl named Elli gives them school supplies. After two years of hiding and just one month before liberation, the Germans find the them and send them to consentration camps. Anne is separated from everyone but her sister who eventually gets sick and dies. Anne meets up with her old best friend Lies and soon dies of starvation. She refused to eat and had thought her dad had also died, so she hadn't any hope. The only survivor is Anne's father Otto Frank. After trying in vain to find his daughters, he is finally told they died. Meip, the girl who had been taking them supplies while in hiding reveals to him she found Anne's diary. He later had it published and it still is read by many. Anne Frank is probably Hitlers best known victim. I really liked the book and I recommend it to you.

Astronomy

"Houston, the eagle has landed" said Neil Armstrong. "That's one small step for man, and one giant leap for mankind" Buzz Aldrin commented. Astronomy is the study of stars , planets, and pretty much everything in space. Nobody really knows if space ever ends but they do know that it's huge. There are 8 planets in our solar system all with different moons, looks, and names.

Sun: (The sun isn't a planet) The Sun is 92,960,000 miles away from the earth and all planets orbit around it. The Sun is 73.46% Hydrogen, 24.85% Helium, 0.77% Oxygen, 0.29% Carbon, 0.16% Iron, 0.12% Sulfur, 0.12% Neon, 0.09% Nitrogen, 0.07% Silicon and 0.05% Magnesium. The Sun is a Yellow Giant and it is so big about a million Earth's could fit inside it.

Mercury: Mercury is the smallest planet in the Solar System and is also the closest to the sun. It takes only 88 days for it to orbit the Sun and a day on Mercury is only 5 hours long! mercury is so small it could fit inside the Earth 3 times. Mercury was named after the Greek god of Sale Mercury.

Venus: Venus is a Volcanic planet and is mostly made of Carbon Dioxide and Nitrogen. It is almost the same size of the Earth and is commonly called Earth's twin. It is the Second closest planet to the sun (you'd think it was the first because it's so dang hot) and is named after the Roman Goddess of Love.

Earth: Earth is home to millions of species of life including humans and was formed 4.54 billion years ago. The Earth is made of Nitrogen and Oxygen and has 6,740,000,000 humans on it, most of which live in Asia. It takes 365 days (366 on leap year) to orbit the Sun and 24 hours for it to spin on it's axis once. The Earth's water covers three fourths of the Earths surface and has only one moon called the Moon.

Mars: Mars is the fourth closest planet to the sun and is named after the Roman God of war, Mars. It is commonly called the red planet because of the iron in it's soil. Mars has polar ice caps just like Earth but instead of frozen water the ice is made of Nitrogen! Mars has the biggest geyser in the galaxy called Olympus Mons which is 7 times bigger then Mt. Everest and shoots Carbon Dioxide.

Jupiter: Jupiter is the largest planet in the Solar System and is 5th closest to the sun. Jupiter is two and a-half times bigger than all the planets in the Solar System combined! Jupiter has 63 moons too! It is named after the Roman God Jupiter and the strangest thing about it is a 600 year old storm that could cover the Earth 3 times.

Saturn: Saturn is the sixth planet closest to the Sun and has a huge ring around it made up of asteroids and comets. Saturn has the second largest moon in the galaxy named Titus it is 2x larger than Mercury. Saturn is named after the Roman God Saturitus.

Uranus: Uranus is the sixth planet from the sun and is made of Hydrogen and Helium. Uranus is named after a Roman God just like most of the planets are. The guy who dicovered Uanus was called William Shercael. Uranus is a pecuiliar planet mainly because of it's color, Light Blue which is caused by all the Helium.

Neptune: Neptune is the last of the gas giants and the planet farthest away from the sun. Neptune is named after the Roman God of the sea. Neptune is entirely made of ocean that are made of Hydrosulfide. It is 15x bigger than earth and has 6 moons.

BLACK HOLES THE DESTROYERS OF GALAXY'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Black Hole is a collapsed star destoyed by it's own gravity. This is a picture of a Black hole sucking up a star. I just hope a Black Hole doesn't hit Earth or else there will be 7 planets instead of 8. Iknow what your'e thinking, what happend to Pluto, well it got kicked off as a planet by the goverment they say it's to small to be a planet.

Glad not to be a Gladiator

Rah! The Gory sport of Roman gladiators was considered fun back in old times. The people of Rome just loved it, watching men, women and animals brutally killed or wounded. Julius Caesar was famous because he payed for the fights. Gladiators were slaves, criminals, or just volunteers. To become a gladiator you had to go to gladiator school where you would become tough and mean. After you were done with school you would become a gladiator. Gladiators looked like Romes past enemies but they weren't always like that. There were 11 different types of gladiators all with different names, weapons, armor and clothing.

Myrmillo: Carries a dagger and shield. Wears wide leather belt, leg band and has a fish-like helmet.

Thracian: Uses a small shield and curved dagger. Wears greaves on both legs.

Andabatus: Wears a helmet with no eye holes and charges blindly at opponent on horseback.

Essedarius: A gladiator who drives a horse drawn chariot and carries a spear.

Retarius: Carries a trident and dagger. Has a net and tries to snare opponents. Wears shoulder armor on the left arm.

Women: An uncommon sight but women fought as all types of gladiators too.

Samnite: Wears a crested helmet and carries a sword and large shield.

Dimachaerius: Carries two swords and has little or no armor.

Lequarius: Is just like Retarius except that he carries a lasso instead of a net.

Secutor: A lightly armed and armored gladiator that chases his opponent with just a knife.

Velitus: A gladiator that wears lions skin on his back and carries only a spear.

Sometimes gladiator battles would be against animals with up to 15 gladiators all trying to kill lions, jaguars, panthers, elephants, crocodiles, rhinos, and bears using dogs, nets and spears. At least 5 times in gladiator history they did naval battles. They filled the big Roman coliseums with water then put two ships in them and battled! The Roman Army

Charge! Was the usual battle cry for the Roman army. This week I learned soooooo much about the roman army and Rome, and we did sooo many activities at homeschool about it. It was really cool!!! The Roman Empire had many enemies like the savage mountain barbarians, the Assyrians, the Egyptians, the Mongols, the Celts, the Arabs and the Persians. A lot of enemies right? I would rather make friends with all of them (except the barbarians). Rome came to have most of it's land because of a cruel dictator named Julius Caesar. One thing I did not know is that the Romans conquered the U.K.!?!? Yeah, that's right the Britons. They all rode over there and attacked the Celts.

This is a Celt.

The Celts went into battle naked! 1. because all of them where big, tall, strong and FIERCE!!!

2. because they thought that the blue paint on their bodies would protect them from swords and arrows. Unfortunately for them they lost and the Romans took over the U.K.

Do you know that the Romans actually named London, the original name was Londonium. The Romans had many ways of winning they used advanced weaponry, quick thinking, and strategic formations that made them brutal opponents. The advanced weaponry was something most of their enemies didn't have artillery!!! The Romans had three types of artillery the most famous of them is probably the Catapult. The catapult (just in case somebody doesn't know) is a wooden mechanism that was commonly used in the Middle Ages it used a clever pulley device that launched rocks at the enemy. They also used Ballistas, Giant Crossbows that shot huge arrows or spears that ripped through shields and armor.

The last of the Roman artillery was the Scorpio!!! The Scorpio was an awesome arrow tip shooting gun that looked kind of like a Ballista but shot arrow tips that caused instant death. The Scorpio was used like a machine gun could shoot up to 5 darts at a time. The Romans had really powerful artillery's but the Roman soldier was pretty good too. The common Roman soldier carried two throwing spears, one sword that he carried on his waist, one tall rectangular shield and a small dagger. They didn't have arrows because let's just say it just wasn't their thing. Sometimes the Romans rode horses into battle too. Romans had many sea battles as well, they were mostly against the Persians. Learning about the Roman army was pretty fun, but let's just say I still wouldn't want to be against them!

Nerf Gun Wars

Today we had a play date with a bunch of home schooler kids, no really I mean a bunch about like thirty of them ranging from 3-17 on a 3 and a half acre piece of land . On the invitation they told us to bring any Nerf guns we have so we brought a pretty good grenade launcher (a.k.a ball gun). When we got there there was all ready a battle going on so we hurried and got on our speeders (a.k.a scooters) and hurried and took sides (kids of course) and went to see what our enemy was. Now I had taught Kaden some pretty good moves like the old "duck and roll" but nothing could of prepared us for what was coming. The enemy was on a Warthog (a.k.a golf cart) charging towards us at full speed so I yelled "Code Red" and we both took off running. Bullets were flying everywhere so we both quickly took cover and found our allies who explained to us what we were facing and how to not get shot. Then they handed me a gun and told me to hide in the trees and then shoot as they went by.

The Warthog went away for a while and we planned an ambush. The enemy came back and was wondering where the heck we were, the plan was working perfectly and they started unloading troops and ammo. We caught them totally by surprise and right in the open, while our troops rushed out of the bushes, the rest of us were firing from the trees. Our troops used scary war shrieks to confuse and dismay the enemy. They quickly got on the Warthog again and took off towards the house to retreat because they knew we had won that battle. There was little time to celebrate because we had lost so many men and I knew that now the mission was to put siege upon the house.

I knew that as soon as we went in that house we were walking into a trap so instead we went around the back gate to the backyard. As we sneaked around the back we saw a terrible sight they now had a castle with turrets! They had us trapped so there was two options 1. we could go around the back and face attack from both sides or 2. go through the front and risk getting ambushed, so I sent a heavily trained spy through the front and sadly he didn't come back out.

We slowly went through the front, we could tell that the number of eyes watching us was steadily growing, yet no attack of any kind came from the enemy? As we crept up stairs we checked the East rooms for any clue of the enemy but all we found was ammo so I told my men to help themselves but then I heard foot steps in the halls and went to check and saw a note attached to the gun of the spy I had sent out earlier and it was from the enemy!

Dear Kids,

We are planning an attack on you! Come and get us with everything you've got and we will do the same thing to you.

From, You're worst enemy!

After reading this I gathered my troops and put them in the rooms we controlled and told them to stay there until the fight. I sent out my best man to try and provoke the enemy to run to us so our guys could ambush them again. But the guy went to far into enemy territory and was ambushed as bullets rained on him from every direction I ran into the other rooms and got the troops and told them "Kids of the army, the captain is dead the time has come for us to go and battle the enemy, now who's with me!". We all charged into battle and were immediately in the fight it seemed that the enemy called reinforcements from the castle. Bullets flew every where. I took cover from behind a couch and started shooting as many guys as I could.

The enemy then retreated deeper into their territory, we chased after them into a room and then stuff happened so fast that I don't know what happened. A bucket full of stuff rained from above and knocked a guy out cold! Bullets were hitting my guys like crazy. While the enemy charged from out of a closet they were also shooting us from above and behind a bed. It took a while to shoot the guys down but eventually we did it. There was very few of the enemy and we were winning it only took a few rebellions from the enemy to make it so we won. It was so awesome and it was also a true story. Luckily me and Kaden made it out okay after that war.

Caesar Salad & Confucius

Today in our Story of the World history book me and my mom read about Confucius and Julius Caesar. Confucius was a Chinese Philosopher who taught how to be good and not to be mean to animals and bugs. Here are a few of his most famous sayings.

1. Do not unto others what you would not want others to do to you.
2. If you make a mistake and do not correct it, this is called a mistake.
3. It is the wiser person who gives rather than takes.
4. He who aims to be a man of complete virtue does not seek to gratify his appetite for food.

I'm sure everyone has heard of Julius Caesar. He was a Roman General and a dictator and was very power thirsty. When he was a young boy he was captured by pirates when he was crossing the Mediterranean Sea. He later came back as a General and executed them all! He later married Cleopatra, a female Pharoah in Egypt. the Senete of Rome didn't like this very much so they stabbed Julius to death. Caesars last words were Et Tu Brute which in latin means You to Brutus. (Brutus had once been Caesars freind).

Air

Without oxygen everything in this picture would not exist. All living things need oxygen in order to survive. Plants have tiny holes in their leaves called stomates and animals have lungs. Living things that need air are called aerobic and creatures that don't are anaerobic. The air is getting polluted by car exist and chemicals so right now scientists are trying to find a way to put a stop to it.

Little Wonders

Macroscopic, amoeba, paramecium, and protozoa are words that can be new to some people but they are very interesting. Macroscopic means you can see it without using a microscope. Amoeba are microscopic life forms that have no definite shape but the paramecium is shaped like a slipper. Protozoa are both amoeba and paramecium and act like bigger macroscopic life forms by eating smaller microscopic plants and animals. Many types of protozoa are harmful and can cause sleeping sickness and death by being in the water that we drink. Leeuwenhoek called these little protozoa "beasties". The nation with the biggest amount of sickness from protozoa is Africa, so if you ever plan a trip there it would be smart to pack your own water!

The Screwtape Letters

The Screwtape Letters by C.S Lewis was one of the most boring books I've ever read ): I didn't understand anything about it, but since it was an assigned book I had to read it. Screwtape (the uncle's nickname) is constantly writing to Wormwood (the cousins nickname) about God, philosophy, and life. It's pretty boring but I have to admit did learn a few things from it. Since WWII just barely broke out they have to use nicknames. Screwtape keeps talking about how the enemy is always getting stronger, smarter, and trying to outsmart you. I don't really recomend it to anyone if you want to be bored to death.

Eragon

Eragon is the second best book I've ever read and before I tell you about it (which I know you want me to) I must give shout outs to two people. Christopher Paolini the second best author ever (if you're wondering J.K Rowling is the first in my opinion, because she wrote Harry Potter which is the best book I've ever read), and Jason Winsor or Brother Winsor a friend of my parents in our ward. It all happens when the evil King Galbatorix and his empire are in battle against the Varden who have help with the dwarfs and elves. In the ancient land of Algeisia in the Du Weldenvarden Forest there is an ambush waiting for the Varden twelve Urgels and a Shade are part of the trap. While the Urgels are large, ugly, and stupid they are vicious in battle the Shade is more powerful then fifty Urgels the shade uses Dark Magic to overpower enemies. As a band of elves on horses draws closer they are showered urgle arrows. Two of the elves are hit but only the third one survives long enough to use magic to transport the blue dragon egg to the dangerous Spine forest. While the young boy Eragon hunts in the Spine there is a small explosion nearby that startles the herd of dear he was hunting then he finds the egg and heads home thinking he can get a few crowns (money) for it. Then in the middle of the night the egg hatches and when Eragon touches the baby dragon he gets a gedwey ignasia ( that's ancient language for the glowing palm). Then he meets Brom a skilled old man who teaches him about dragons but then the Ra'zac come and kill Garrow Eragon's dad. The Ra'zac are ruthless hunters, assassins and spy's for the Empire who can leap far distances, run at amazing speeds, and have beak and eyes that are as big as a fist. Eragon hurries and rides away on Saphira's (that's the dragons name) back. When he gets back his house is destroyed Garrow is dead and all that riding rubbed all skin off his legs (because of Saphira's scales). While him and Brom are traveling they come past a town where everyone in it's dead and there are still two Urgels left who attack him and Brom. Eragon then uses the magic word Brisinger (Fire) while shooting an arrow. The arrow then hits one urgel in the forehead killing him while the shock wave kills the other. More urgels attack him so then he says Nagz riesa (rise, slam) dozens of them slam into trees and walls. He is then captured by the Ra'zac. Brom rescues him but dies doing it. He then meets Murtagh who helps him get across the Hardarac desert to the Varden with the elf from the beginning who is terribly sick. When he gets to the Varden they are preparing for war with Urgels. When the thousands of urgels come streaming in the Varden shower them with arrows and burning oil. Eragon then battles the shade and kills him. The urgels are all confused and start attacking each other. I really liked the book and I recommend it to everyone.

Peter Pan

This week I read an awesome book called Peter Pan (not abridged) it is about a girl called Wendy and her adventure to Neverland. At first she lives a normal life until she catches Peter Pan's shadow and then he tries to get it and put it on with soap!

When Peter puts pixie dust from Tinkerbell on Wendy, John, and Micheal they fly out through the window and off to Neverland (with Nana the dog barking at them). Once they get to Neverland the evil Captain James Hook and his crew starts shooting cannonballs at them! They way of Neverland is like a sibilant circle, Pirates chase the Lost boys who chase the Redskins who chase the pirates. My favorite part is when at the end the Indians and Pirates have a huge war. The book was great and I recommend it to everyone but just remember you can do anything with a pinch of pixie dust (=

Where's My Mummy?

For awhile now we've been learning about Ancient Egypt at Riverside Scholars. Like did you know that Egypt was once divided into to parts? Upper and Lower Egypt but then they both fought one great war that would decided who would rule Egypt. Upper Egypt and The White Crowned King, King Narmer defeated Lower Egypt and the Red Crowned King and took hid crown away and put it on top of his own crown. There were many pharaohs and queens of Egypt the Egyptians were polytheists that means that they worship many Gods but that all changed this one time. There was once a pharaoh of Egypt named Amenhotep he was pretty normal for a few years, he sent out armies to stop rebellions, he married a Nubian princess, and worshiped the gods but then everything changed, he know told the people of Egypt that the gods didn't exist and that the only god was a god named Aten. The people were horrified and were forced to move into another city, build monuments of the god, and change there religion to Monotheism which means to worship one god. After Akhenehaten ( he changed his name) died the people rebelled and moved back to their usual way of life. I sure learned a lot when we studied Egypt who nows mabye the curse on Tut's tomb is real.

Island of the Blue Dolphins

Today I finished an exciting book called Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell.

My favorite part of the book is when she does an attack on the wild dogs cave and kills many of dogs and then takes a wounded one and tames it. At the beginning these white men called the aluets come and kill many of the Indian warriors then escape. The Indians flee thinking the aluets might come back but only one is left your thinking Karana right? Wrong, it's her little brother Ramo. So Karana jumps out of the boat and go's back to save him. Later he is killed by wild dogs.
Next, Karana does a bunch of things to survive. At one point she finds a beached whale and the she kills a walrus and a giant devilfish. She makes many friends on the island a wild dog named Rontu and his son Rontu-aru, an otter named mon-a-nee and two birds Tainor and Lumari.

I really liked the book and I think the author wanted it to be about a girl Robinson Crusoe and her way of survival. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a good adventure book.

Obama as President

I can't believe Obama won! He is the first African American man to ever be elected into the White House. It's pretty neat but I would have voted for McCain.

I've been reading a lot lately if you can see. I really like reading and trying new books so some of these books might seem weird to you so Ill tell you what they're about. Harry Potter, I've been reading a lot of those. The Adventures of Melvin Beederman, is about a super hero kid who loves spreading justice, but the only problem is that wherever he goes he sees underwear! Bud Barkin, Private Eye, is about a detective dog named Howie who has the voice of a finely tuned piano. The Swiss Family Robinson, is about a Swiss pastor and his family's struggle for survival after they're boat crashes and they're stuck on a remote island. Every body's favorite hero is back in a whole new adventure where, this time he's battling Thugges, evil men who worship an evil goddess Kali Ma and sacrifice the people of India. Attack of the Screaming Mummies From Outer Space is about Howie a little dog who lost his family due to a tornado and finds a pooch named Delilah and together they find a time machine warp to Egypt 100 years later where screaming alien mummies try to take over the world.Franny K. Stein is a little girl who has a flesh eating koala. eye-ball remover and a mind for mad science. What if dinosaurs roamed the earth? What would it be like? Would they cause terror and panic?Why don't you read it and find out.
